2011 is OVER!

...Well not quite yet but we're getting there!

Wow, this year definitely flew by. This was the year that I started university and I blame it for my lack of orientation. For reals. I became nocturnal. And it’s a habit I can’t seem to kick. But anyways this year was known for a lot of political events.

MAJOR EVENTS

On March 11th there was a major earthquake and following tsunami in Japan killing 15,840 people. Also leaving 3,926 missing. This event called for emergency plans for the nuclear power plants. They are still recovering from this event.
The next month there was better news, on my birthday actually, Kate Middleton and Prince William got married. This was major news on TV and in the magazines. Even now I just saw a magazine talking about their plans for the holidays. The British royals seem to be really universal.

In May, the big news was that Osama bin Laden was found and killed in Pakistan. Not much to say about that, but hell that took a while.
In July the world’s first artificial organ transplant occurred by using an artificial windpipe coated with stem cells. Stem cells are really cool. If you ever study biology you’ll know what I’m talking about. They are adaptable to being like any cells needed.
In August NASA captured photographic evidence of possible liquid water on Mars during warm seasons. Guess we know where to head once the apocalypse comes.
There was more natural events like floods in Thailand, and Cambodia. Also a 7.2M earthquake hit Turkey killing 604 people and damaging 2,200 buildings.
This month the United States declares an end to the Iraq war. And it’s about time. There were also a significant amount of deaths that occurred this year. Like just a few days ago Communist leader of North Korea Kim Jong Il died of a heart attack.

DEATHS

The major deaths this year were:
Nate Dogg—died on March 15th from a stroke.
Elizabeth Taylor—died on March 23rd from congestive heart failure.
Osama bin Laden—died on May 2nd.
Amy Winehouse—died July 23rd from Alcohol poisoning? I can’t really recall. But she was a great singer but there were a lot of issues present with her health and her life in general… so it was almost expected.
Steve Jobs—died on October 5th from pancreatic cancer. He was suffering for a while so this news shouldn’t really have been such a surprise. But it really hit people since he was a leading innovator for Apple.
Muammar Gaddafi—died on October 20th. He was captured by Libyan forces and later shot dead.

Looking back at the year it was very depressing. With the amount of deaths and natural disasters it almost seems the world is ending. Oh and that is what most people are anticipating for 2012. They believe that the world would end. Personally I don’t think that it will. But really I think if we all die, then there’s not much we can do about it. I mean we are going to die anyways, so why make a big deal out of the apocalypse. I guess we can escape to Mars if we really value of lives.

MAJOR MOVIES OF THE YEAR

There are a tonne of movies that were released this year, but I’m just going to mention the major ones. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, New Year’s Eve, The Sitter, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, Young Adult, Hugo, Arthur Christmas, The Muppets, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, The Hangover Part II, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Fast Five, Cars 2, Thor, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Help, Bridesmaids, Kung Fu Panda 2, X-Men: First Class, Rio, The Smurfs, Puss in Boots, Cowboys and Aliens, Super 8, Rango, Horrible Bosses, Green Lantern, Hop, Paranormal Activity 3, Just Go with It, Bad Teacher.

Big list of movies there, but to be honest I haven’t even seen most of them. I saw Harry Potter. And I couldn’t believe that it is over. I need to go and buy them all on DVD. And interesting story about that, they are soon going to stop producing them if they haven’t already. What they are going to do is just keep it in the vault like how they do with all the Disney movies, and then I guess a decade from now they will rerelease them. So go buy your HP DVDs now! But I think they did an amazing job with ending it. I really like Part 2. It had all of the action, and it was really dark. The end was a bit off though because they show them in the future and Ron has a pot-belly. But I guess with his appetite that was inevitable.

I also went to see Transformers with my sister. I didn’t like the fact that they replaced Meghan Fox with some random model that didn’t even get dirty and seemed to wear heels throughout the whole movie and was even able to perform all of the action bits in the heels. It wasn’t believable at all, but I loved the movie. I think I cried when Bumblebee did something… But everyone’s fave character is Bumblebee so I’m pretty sure I’m not alone with that one.

I saw the Planet of the Apes movie. I liked it a lot. There was one part where this huge silverback gorilla tackles a helicopter. It was epic. Like if you haven’t seen the movie I recommend it. It was basically the prequel to all the Planet of the Apes movies. But I still haven’t seen them… But yeah this movie also had James Franco and Frieda Pinto in it. LOOOVE James Franco and the fact that his love interest was a brown girl makes me love him even more.

I haven’t seen the Help, but my sister did. She said it was good, so I’ll plan to watch it sometime.

Bridesmaids wasn’t that great of a movie. And people said it was amazing and were saying it was like the female version of the Hangover. But honestly it was slow and had a few funny bits, and I loved the British or Irish guy but other than that… it wasn’t good.

X-Men: First Class was pretty awesome. I cried watching that too when Xavier finds out he can’t walk. Like hell! Magneto owes him big time. But yeah I recommend it. Decent amount of action and love, and it totally explains their early life. I love it.

I watched Horrible Bosses one night. This movie is so long. I didn’t realize but it was also kind of slow. It was funny though, and yeah you really would want to kill these bosses too. I liked it. But it was long and slow… hahaha that’s what she said.

CELEBRITY&JERSEY

I was trying to think of what happened with celebrities. The major one this year was Kim Kardashian’s fake wedding. Like she got married and then divorced like ten days later. I swear people just don’t know what to do with their money. People were saying that the wedding was a huge publicity stunt. Well it worked. But now everyone hates them and her. I heard Kim did an interview with Barbra Walters and she basically told Kim that she has no talent at all, so what’s the point of them even having a show. Like they do nothing…  I’ve never watched the show but I don’t want to lose brain cells.

Oh I remember that was my ideology about the J-Shore. But I watched all the episodes of their season they go to Italy. It was really interesting. I totally love Vinny. He’s a guy but from the show you learn he has a little substance and is a bit cultured. They went to Italy in the season that aired this year. It pretty much was check out all the clubs, and go wild. They also introduced another person—Deena. She’s basically Snooki’s friend. I didn’t think she was going ot mesh well with the show but she turned out to be just as wild and it really made the season awesome.

But I really like watching their antics. It’s good entertainment. And they are coming out with a new season starting January so I can’t wait for that!

FIN

So I guess I’m going to end my New Year’s recap here. There’s too much text! But I hope everyone is enjoying their holidays and best wishes for the New Years.
I think I will start to post more pictures and text as well so it won’t be a bore to anyone. And I also need to make a new layout… so that will be coming shortly. Thanks for reading!
Love A

Make Up Time

Ugh, I know it's pretty much 5AM, so what am I doing up? I was trying to watch this show called Awkward, but my internet is being really annoying and it's not letting me. So I was adding some more music to my playlist and yeah... So I found this great make-up tutorial. Tutorials and hauls are really big on youtube, so I just thought I would share one with you guys.
Natural-looking makeup will never ever go out of style. It's a great look all year round. It usually encompasses nude tones, like browns and peaches, and creams. And this is paired with a natural looking eye lash--nothing overdone and some blush as well to give your skin a little colour. Or add some bronzer for a glow.
I mentioned this in a post a really long time ago I think. But if you have lighter skin and hair it's really important that you own a brown eyeliner and mascara. This will basically help you acomplish an everyday look without looking overdone. Also I've noticed that people with blonde eyelashes put on black mascara but then they don't do it right and the lashes closer to the eye is still blonde and it just looks dumb. See if you use brown and apply it properly then you will look a bit more put together.
In the video below, the girl uses both black and brown eye makeup but it doesn't look overdone or like a night look at all. I thought it was pretty good, and she definitely understands the appropriate levels of makeup. Enjoy!

(P.S. I know I said I was going to start uploading pics to put on lookbook, but I've been a little busy, and I don't exactly have a personal photographer, so its a bit challenging to take pictures by myself. But I will try my best)

Queens University

So since coming home all I did was sleep. But i decided that I was going to visit my friends today. So you know since they are still in high school and have class I decided to boy watch. So far only one from the gym caught my interest. Anyways I noticed that Queens girls pretty much dress the same. Like follow the same trends. ALright we shall start from the bottom up. UGGS seem to be the common choice of footware. Yes, it's winter, and I suppose they are warm, but still they are so expensive, and take lots of care. But we are talking pretentious kids with money here... Anyways there is the occasional student sporting tall leather boots or booties, and kudos to them for breaking the cycle. When will UGGS go out of style? Or were they even in style in the first place?
Alright the next trending thing: Goose-down Jackets. I'm talking about the real ones, like the 400 dollar parkas. Now I've lived in Canada for a while, and seriously you don't need a goose-down jacket to keep you warm. In fact at the moment there is no snow on the ground and the sun is shining, yet people are bracing themselves for a fucking blizzard... *sigh* It's all just for show. Anyways, I thought this would have been a longer rant, but I guess not. Oh and btw, all the hotties seem to flock to the gym, so I set up in the perfect spot.

Oh but I will share this: my new favourite nail polish from OPI called Rainbow Connection. I haven't gotten it yet because when I went to Sephora they didn't have it... But I am hoping they will get it soon, or I will just have to order it online. But it's from their Muppets line, and I think its the cutest.

New School, New City, New Life

It’s been such a long time since I posted anything on this blog. The last time I posted was in March. So I have eight months to account for.

Alright so around that time I was prepping for exams, universities, and prom. All was awesome. I decided to go to Carleton University for September since I didn’t get into Ryerson, and York I heard wasn’t that great of a school. Also I really wanted to get out of Kingston, so that’s why I also ditched Queens.

University is great. It’s everything I expected. And I have a lot of fun. I think I’ve changed a lot since leaving high school-- both physically and mentally.  And now my first term is done. I had one exam, which was for ANTH1001. Never take this class unless you like anthropology. I took it because I thought it would be interesting and an easy mark. Boy was I wrong. Yeah, I’m not even going to talk about the class. And don’t get me wrong, the professor was amazing. She would play a song at the start of every class. On the last day she played Gasolina and I just wanted to start dancing. But that would be weird… Anyways, I didn’t like the class because there was only two assignments, a midterm and the final exam. I didn’t do so well on the first assignment because my TA failed to give the right instructions, and I couldn’t really do anything about that. I never got back the second assignment… So I probably should see when and where to get it… Anyways I’m glad the first half of the year is over and now I’m looking forward to the second. Time really does fly.
I’ve been really bad lately. I don’t have a job at the moment, but I still manage to spend my money like I do. Since going to school, I’ve bought a lot of accessories from Forever21 and contacts, and Hunters (which I love), and this adorable furry hat from American Eagle. Oh yeah and I got my nose pierced, and I go clubbing every weekend.

So my New Year’s resolution is to be studious, but still have my fun. Which will be easier for me to manage since I want to join a sorority. I had rushed in September, but I was doing it for the wrong reasons, so now I am back, and better than ever because I learned my lessons. So I can keep the blog updated on that as well. Though I think I’m supposed to be very secretive about it…

MUSIC
Since going away to uni, I’ve found myself listening to a lot of Hip Hop and R&B and Rap. I still listen to my techno—and I have the greatest party playlist if I say so myself. I left Kingston only having two hours of songs on it. Now there is like seven. But yeah, I just thought I would give my thoughts on Drake’s new album Take Care.

This album is amazing. And I’m not just saying that because of all the hype that surrounds him. The songs on the album are actually decent. He spoke about his album and how it tells a story, and while listening to it, you can definitely hear it. You can watch the interview in the video below. Also the order of the songs is perfect—they mesh well.
I was just re-watching the video and he seems a bit cocky. But that’s okay. The album is great, I really like the songs: Marvin’s Room, Doing It Wrong, Crew Love, Shot for Me, and HYFR.
I need to get new headphones. The bass sucks in the one’s I’m using now. I’m thinking red Beats?

FILM
So even though I go to uni, I find myself with a lot of free time. And when I’m not hitting up the gym, working on the playlist, or working… (who am I kidding?) I’m watching movies. So the most recent one I saw was Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Vampires Suck. They were shitty…  So I’ll talk about Friends With Benefits.
The movie starred Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. I was surprised because Timberlake can act--though throughout the whole time I’m just thinking about his awful blonde hair from his running with N’Sync. The movie was cute, and you pretty much know the storyline before you start. These two people decide to be friend with benefits, nothing emotional—then they start falling for each other. And them bam, they end up together.

This is kind of off-topic but Drake makes a point that when people are together, they don’t consider themselves dating, but yet they don’t see other people. Is it that people are really afraid of commitment nowadays? Cause really, you don’t really hear the words boyfriend or girlfriend. People are just “fuck-buddies.” And if you don’t do this, you’re prolly just going to end up alone. The world is so messed up nowadays.

But back to the movie, I recommend it for a Friday night. There enough sex scenes in there that you’ll forget you’re lonely.

FASHION
So personally, I think I have been staying on top of the fashion scene. Since it’s winter, and that holiday season—it’s perfect for sequins and sparkles.

This is an Assymmetrical Sequin Dress from Forever21. You can find it here: http://canada.forever21.com/Product/Product.aspx?BR=F21&Category=dress&ProductID=2083316650&VariantID=
It’s really pretty for the holiday season and you’ll definitely be turning heads with it. The only thing is I don’t really like the long sleeve on it. The length or something about it is kinda off in the picture.

This sequined corset dress is from Amercian Eagle. It comes in a wine type colour and blue. Again very cute for holiday parties. And I really like the corset looks. I’ve noticed they’ve become common for everyday looks. You can find the dress here: http://www.ae.com/web/browse/product.jsp?productId=0394_9611_020&catId=cat1320034

On another note lately I’ve been really into crop tops. I think at first I thought they were stupid, because it’s like half a shirt, but if you have the body for it then hell, go for it! They are really cute for parties or casual wear. I prefer to wear them out.

Alright so I think I made this blog post long enough. I think I’ll work on a new layout for the site too. So until next time—stay thirsty my friends!

I'm Backkk

Ok, so I realize that it is almost 2AM... but I just thought I would pop on here because I have some news. I recently joined lookbook, and I plan on posting some of my looks there. So what does that have to do with my blog? Well I linked the two... so I'm going to be way more active on here, posting lots of lots of content. Aiming for once a week at least. AHH I'm in uni now, and first term is done. So I will definitely have some free time to do some major major updating. But yeah, I'm excited to share all the stories and and looks :) This will most likely be the place where I dump the pics that don't make it to lookbook aswell... Or I'll incorporate fashionbredd into it too... Who knows? Well time to go back to studying for my exam in the morning. But yeah for some reason I just couldn't wait to post this. YAYYY.

Hey Strangers!

Wow, it's been so long since I have blogged... So what have I been doing? Well not a whole lot... During the course of the past three months I have basically been a bum. I have been watching Korean dramas like Shining Inheritance, and 49 Days. (Which both I recommend. OMG SOOO GOOD) And I have been playing LoL. Well actually I have been consumed by it... Though since it's ridiculously nice out, I have been enjoying the weather and being outside, rather than inside playing. So I think it's a good start.
I didn't get into the university I wanted... but it's ok. I am going to my second choice which is Carleton, for the same program journalism. I just sorted out my residence stuff this week, so I am happy to get out of my house, and start living on my own.
School-wise... I have been a bad kid. I skip class a lot. Like there hasn't been a week where i have attended all my classes... much less a day. It's because I have given up on school. I mean there are only two weeks left so why not? I do have a crazy ton of work to do... So I guess you could say that's what I've been doing. So many culminating assignments, so little time.
So I haven't really watched TV in a while, but The Vampire Diaries, and Degrassi are basically over for now. As for other shows, I have started watching Misfits. It's really entertaining. It's an English show and the kids are so crude. There is something sexual in every episode. I recommend you guys watching it. LOL.
Ok, well I don't really know what else to talk about... I haven't read my Elle Canada magazines for months, so I don't know whats new in the fashion world right now... But I will promise that I will talk about fashion in my next post.
So until then, i will be counting down the days to freedom!

It's Almost Spring!

Hello strangers. I know I haven't posted at all since December... was it? So yeah it has been a couple months. But I just decided that enough was enough, and since I have a lot of free time, why not fill it with rants and so on.
Actually the reason I came here was because of a Forever21 email I received. It said there were 1000 new arrivals! Basically I got really excited and wished I could shop online since I have so many faves. So here are some really cute spring items from forever21.com. Go check it out!

Painted Tulips Skirt 16.80
I love the colours of this skirt.
Button Down Boyfriend Shirt 23.90
For some reason I have been obsessed lately with boyish items. This shirt makes it to the list :)

3/4 Sleeve Colourblock Top 27.90
There are a lot of navy stripes in at forever21. Even so, I still like this shirt as it's light, neckline is cute, and would go with virtually anything.

This dress is so cute, and super flirty and perfect for a date.

Sweetheart Lace Dress 29.80
Since I have homework to do I am going to stop there. I think I am going to try to get back into the habit of blogging since I have such a chill semester. I hope to maybe fix up the site again with some new graphics and songs etc. ect. I have an idea of making it really cute and bright and not boring. So more media stuff so you don't have to read cause I know reading is a dying art. I will however keep updating you on my not so busy life and hopefully throw in some hilarious and embarrassing stories about myself.
Alright sayonara internet!
Stay thirsty my friends.
Oh BTW my 18th birthday is next month! OMG can't wait.
