Awareness

So I know I said that I had a lot to do—like catch up on work and study for my exams, but I can’t break the habit of updating my blog. Plus something extreme has happened this week, and I would like to give my opinion on it. So first let me just say I am calm about my exams. I have a plan of what I am going to do, so it really does pay off to be organized. Also, I am done most of my culminating activities, so I am good to go. So earlier this week I had to write about Thich Naht Hanh for my Peace Studies class. He spoke about awareness. We should live our lives in the present. So that got me thinking and now I am quite the peaceful person thanks to that class. I have also had an epiphany and now I will share an article with you.
So I am pretty sure if you turned on the TV at all this week, there has been a lot of focus on Haiti. That is in cause of the massive earthquake which had a magnitude of 7.0. It originated in Port-Au-Prince, and affected the rest of the Dominican Republic. There is presumed to be 100,000 people killed from the quake. Canada is sending about 5 million to help out the Haitians with the devastation. Other countries are taking part in helping. Here is what I don’t get. Even though this was a natural disaster I feel that we waited for the worse, until acting. In my reading about the Buddhist monk Thich Naht Hanh, he spoke about prevention. When being mindful we act before the situation becomes an emergency. In this case, Haiti was suffering from poverty, despair, slavery, devastated economy and infrastructure, military based government. Haiti has been calling for help for a long time, and now that the country is literally destroyed we now act. I think that the countries should have acted sooner, we could have repaired the buildings, and made them earthquake resistant. The buildings which were present were made poorly, and out of the cheapest materials. I am not saying that since they are acting now that it is bad. I think it is wonderful that so many relief foundations have been created, and that the countries are sending help and supplies. Since America and Canada can be so rich, we as citizens can indulge in so many privileges, we should have helped sooner. This actually leads to my next point about obesity.

Another story on the news which caught my eye was obesity is proving more of a problem in North America than smoking. That’s right. We have more obese people than smokers. How is it possible that we can overeat, and there are children which go hungry for weeks on end and even to their death. It blows my mind as a society; we are focused on wealth, and greed. It’s even more outrageous because fast-food (I like to call it “FAT FOOD”) allows obesity to be so easy. Have you seen the McDonalds menu? They have items for a dollar. Talk about targeting the financially conscious. This government is not taking care of its people. As obesity begins to rise, prepare to pay more taxes. It makes me upset that we can buy iPhones, and have half-a-million dollar houses, while some in Africa live in shacks. Think about the next time you participate in a privilege.  The fact that I have this computer and I am able to write this is a privilege. When you eat a burger, think about the 55 square feet of rainforest which has just been cut down to produce that quarter pound of meat—and the $5 you could have used to save a child from starving. Do not overeat. It’s not healthy.
I apologize for the “intense” article I just wrote, but I really needed to share this. When you are at the age of voting, think about what the candidates are saying. If they are focusing on solving the structural conflicts we have right now, then they are a good choice.

You Know I Love Lady Gaga Right?!

Okay so this little post is going to make up for my lame one. Yeah, so my two favorite joys in the world are Lady Gaga and Asians... You didn't know? Okay so they are at least my top 10. Kay, well I stumbled upon a video that combines the two. And hope you love them as much as I do.
"OMG There's a monster, OMGOMG, I surrender don't kill me, because I'm cute." This is the highlight of the video. And know that I have provided you the knowledge about this video, you won't freak out when I start dancing, :)

Noname.

Hello everyone. I hope you guys enjoyed your week back to school. I can feel the pressure building. I am just thinking about the two culminating assignments I have to do this weekend. Yeah, wish me luck. This is why I am relaxing listen to Eminem’s fan: Asher Roth. I know I hate him, but I love college. So a little summary for this week is needed. OMG, I am the keeper of so many secrets. I have just discovered so much about other people this week, and its disturbing. I don’t like to have secrets, but I think people just tell me stuff because I don’t mention them to anyone. Okay one or two slip out, but those are minor. But the ones this week are intense. And possibly could ruin everyone’s life, so I am not going to mention them... Actually, by doing this blog I am mentioning them... NEVERMIND. Okay so I have something funny to share with you. On Youtube I subscribed to JeepersMedia and they basically do reviews on a bunch of toys. Actually one of the themes are Fail Toys. So they are basically things that people came up with, and we have no idea what they were thinking. So my favourite FAIL Toy is the Jigsaw Puppet. I actually would buy it and stick it in my bedroom. Okay well just saying I wouldn’t want to put it in my closet or under my bed, I would rather see it than not. WOW I am on a rant. And I haven’t even gotten to the best one.
Okay so I dunno some people came up with a board-game called Cape Horn. The funny thing is... well you try pronouncing it. Okay so since I am great at ruining jokes just watch the video.
So whatelse is new? Uhmmm, well I haven’t really started on my New Year’s resolution. It was basically to start a healthy lifestyle, but I have been eating truffles every day. It is so hard to stay healthy—especially when I am surrounded by temptation. Oh by the way, whenever you are craving chips, go for crackers instead. They are not covered in grease. So....what else? Oh so I am going to be part of a fashion show! Yeah I know it’s awesome, ‘cause I am going to model. Plus I may join track, I just need to find out some info. So yes, I am a really interesting and multitalented person. I am the secretary of DECA, an unofficial-model, and an athlete, and artist, and awesome DJ. :) So personal  stuff? I don’t really have anything to share, I seem to have something to do in every spare time I have. Very, very busy. Oh and by the way, there may or may not be a post in the coming weeks. Exams are coming up, and I need to fill my time with studying. So I will give you guys some links to check out to occupy your Friday nights—because you don’t have a date... Wow, maybe I should check some of those out. So also I really need a summer job. I know that it isn’t even summer, but I am stressing out about the future. And I know I am supposed to live in the present, but I really am looking forward to my driver’s license, and first pay check, plus volunteering.
Okay, so I can’t really think of anything else to write about. I know I usually include stuff about the media and fashion, but I am a bit brain dead, and I just don’t know whatelse to say. Sorry for the lame-o blog.

Looking Back at ‘09

There have been some good times, some bad times, and of course some ugly times. And lucky for you I am here to wrap it all up in a lovely New Years package. So I would just like to say, ’09 was an alright year for me. It was the year I turned 16, and also the year I made this blog. Plus this was the year I saw the most gorgeous guy ever?! And also the year where I promised myself I would marry Taylor Lautner. So what else has happened in the Oh-Nine? Why don’t you read ahead to find out more.

The DEATHS

I might as well start with the bad, and end in a good note, right? So this year was the year of celebrity deaths. Michael Jackson of course was the most significant. He died of Cardiovascular Arrest. Well at least that was the cause for the first couple months, we later find out it was a homicide, by his doctor. It was a drug problem, and the controversy still lingers. The next death was of Farrah Fawcett. I didn’t really know who she was, but her death was also very significant. Another was Billy Mays. I was upset when I found out he died of a heart attack. He was the guy who shouted at you to buy stuff. His passing made me want to buy OxyClean. Just recently another celebrity death—Brittany Murphy. She was only 32 and had a promising career. Her COD was Cardiac Arrest... see a coincidence. Though there are speculations it was the cause of drugs. Oh and Jasmine Yuu was another. I think that a lot of the celebrity deaths are related, as they all seem to be having heart problems. Though it may just be me thinking that.

The MENACE

So there were a lot of how should I say...odd things which happened in 2009. So let me explain what I mean. There was Lady Gaga, she is a whole other story (see one of my previous posts) well Lady Gaga had those memorable performances, with her insane firery boobs, and the bloody VMA act. But this will just make you ponder, she met the Queen, the Queen of England that is. That’s the last person you’d think of who would want to meet her. Oh and also there is SWINE FLU or correctly named H1N1 Flu. A lot of people got sick and even died from this flu. And I am just thinking that the world is trying to tell us something. BALLOON BOY.There are still a mass amount of people dying in the Middle East. And it doesn’t look like that is going to slow down. Our recession is obviously a big one. No one has any money, and also we are still going to be low on cash when 2010 arrives and we have to pay ‘HST.’ Not to worry though, things under $4 will be excused...guess we’re going to live at the dollar store from here on in. Also we are now starting to be weight conscience, and finding out that we are actually obese. Tiger Woods has many mistresses... his hot Swedish wife was obviously not cutting it. Even more violence than there needs to be. The world seems to be doomed. And also that creepy Orphan movie came out, please don’t watch it.

The GOOD TIMES

So there were actually some high points of 2009. We got OBAMA. Yes, We DID. First black man to be the president of the US. Okay so he was elected in '08 but he won a Nobel Peace Prize this year. Anyways, we had lots of lots of movies. And actually a lot of them were awesome. So there was AVATAR, omg, loved it. And now I want to watch it again. There was Up, another great one, just saw it over the holidays. The Informant was apparently another good one, I am not saying this from personal opinion, I am actually getting this from somewhere. Watchmen was apparently another one. I haven’t seen it, but it must be good right? So here is another list I found of the best movie of ’09. It is better because I may have seen most of them. (500) Days of Summer apparently was good. I haven’t seen it...(I don’t get out much) Where the Wild Things are—such a good movie. Invictus, and Inglorious Bastards are some other top oh-niners. And some others which didn’t quite make it: "9," "Adventureland," "An Education," "Bad Lieutenant Port of Call New Orleans," "Coraline," "District 9," "Fantastic Mr Fox," "Funny People," "The Hangover," "It's Complicated," "Pirate Radio," "Ponyo," "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire," "The Princess and the Frog," "The Road," "A Serious Man," "Sherlock Holmes," "This Is It, "Whip It," "Zombieland."

So some other good ’09 memories? The best albums... I took out some, so if you want to view the full list go here. “Sonic Boom” by KISS, “No Line on the Horizon” by U2, “Sainthood” by Tegan and Sara, “Brand New Eyes” by Paramore, “It’s Not Me, It’s You” by Lily Allen, “So Far Gone” by Drake, “WOLFGANG AMADEUS PHOENIX” by Phoenix.

So the top websites this year were,

Know Your Meme

I am surprised Facebook was so low, and in case you’re wondering I got this list from TIME, I just copied and pasted it. I think I will link some of these—cause they are actually interesting.

Best Electronics are as follows. Windows 7... I view this as an inconvenience. The iPhone, LED TVs, and that’s all I got.

And here is your Celebrity Fix, the SCANDALS. Michaele and Tareq Salahi crashed Obama’s party. Quite frankly, I don’t care. Miss California loses her crown when she said that gays shouldn’t have the right to marry in her state. Serves her right. Jon and Kate Gosseilin... BLAH BLAH no one cares. Chris Brown beats Rhianna. And now Rhianna is more edgier than ever... probably to turn other guys off. Kanye West wins the trophy for being the biggest ass-hole when he steals the spotlight from Taylor Swift at the VMAs.

I TALK TOO MUCH

So I am thinking of taking my blog that one step further, but making a kick-ass layout. It will be unique, and me, and I think my readers will enjoy it. So until I get PhotoShop you guys are going to have to bear with the not so interesting layout. But thanks again for reading and I hope you guys have an amazing New Years, and good luck with 2010!

P.S. Kay so I got this email just now, and it was for my facebook photo, but the link is “unavailable” but anyways, just liked to share it with you.

Jibar commented on a photo of you:

"yoo u have 5 secs to untag me before i kill you , and im a stalker i know where u live :P "

Well Jibar Mahamoud I would just like to say go ahead. I am pretty sure this guy is a hacker, so if you get the same email, don’t worry. This guy won’t do squat. Oh, and by the way Jibar, you is spelled pretty easily... and I love how you’re like “By the way I am a stalker and I know where you live.” That would make sense if you were going to kill me. What a douchebag. Oh and I would just like to say it annoys me the most when he spells you (incorrectly) but then switches to ‘u’. I HATE THAT.

Oh and P.P.S.

So I have been hearing some news on this person by the name of Snookie. I don’t know who she or it is... that name sounds like it belongs to dog. So I ought to share some research. Okay so she is so popular because apparently this teacher decked her in the face. Here’s a picture of Snookie.

Was this picture taken before or after she was punched?

Anyways, if you like Snookie and actually knows who she is, here is a makeup tutorial done by MissDeenaMarie. She is a comedian and mocks a lot of people, so subscribe to her on youtube.

By the way, I think The Spice Girls deserve to be in my playlist.Oh a bytheway, I am reposting this because I messed up the font in the original, plus I needed to make some changes, :) Sorry for the inconvenience. So the comments that were on the original are as followed,
